Cardiacs - problems etc. from contemporaneous notes Main prob was that of keeping camera steady. Assembly Rooms had a sprung dance floor which, with 200 people pogoing, was not very steady. Camera at the back of the hall on tripod moved about allot and Mark had great difficulties trying to stay still at the front. Must find better way of holding roving camera to get better shots - better look at viewfinder and easier to handle - less tiring. |

Also problem of getting into position where all members
of band could be covered without actually being on stage. Mark's position
was behind lights on stage left. But, it was impossible to cover everyone
from these positions and Saxophonist was in the way allot of the time.

These problems came to light in the editing stage. Much
of the on-stage material was unusable because of being to joggy and sometimes
not looking at any subject for a period of time due to Mark moving to
another position. However, the useable shots from here were very good
indeed and the back of the hall camera covered most of the areasthat the
stage camera did not. We only had to cheat and substitute a non synched
picture in a few places throughout the entire 1 and a half hours.

The editing was kept strictly to the beat of the music
and in places the very odd rhythms were mimicked in the editing to good
effect. Heavy editing was also occasionally used to cover up mediocre
or even bad shots and over zealous zooming - by rapidly editing them with
footage from the alternate camera - emphasis was put on the beat and not
on the image!
